Device research, entertainment research - what excites the general public?

By no means an exhaustive list, here is a ranking of how exciting the GB general public finds the latest devices, products and services in the world of technology and entertainment.

All of this data can be found in Harris Interactive's Buzz reports, all of which are free and can be downloaded from here. The table below shows the launch date of the product/service and when we asked the question (fieldwork date) - both are important as some are pre and post launch, which obviously affects the potential level of excitement. Some show "NYR" which is "Not Yet Released" at the time the fieldwork was conducted.


































What do we see? The most exciting things are Freeview HD, iPad, Kinect and 3D. DAB is slightly anomolous as it is hardly a "new" technology and has exceptionally high awareness levels to drive its excitement level,

Technology research, device research - 3rd Harris Buzz report now available

Just to recap, this is the 3rd Harris Buzz report. We interview a representative sample of the GB population via the Harris Poll omnibus. In early December 2010, 1,000+ respondents answered questions about the level of familiarity, discussion buzz and excitement about the following devices and services:
